- Abstract
This article is an interview with Victor Poirier, a pioneer in the development of artificial heart technology. Poirier discusses his work with Dr. Edward Teller, a renowned nuclear physicist known for his contributions to the development of atomic and hydrogen bombs. Poirier explains how he ended up working with Teller and their involvement in developing nuclear-powered electrical systems. They later applied this technology to artificial heart systems, with Teller providing crucial information and recommending the use of Plutonium 238 as a fuel source. The proposed system was eventually accepted, and Poirier reflects on the honor and privilege of working with Teller on this project.
