- Abstract
This article discusses the comorbidities associated with central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA), a type of scarring hair loss that primarily affects middle-aged African American women. The study used the National Institute of Health's All of Us research program to investigate the prevalence of comorbid diseases in CCCA patients. The findings suggest that CCCA patients have a higher likelihood of metabolic abnormalities, autoimmune conditions, atopy, and psychiatric comorbidities. The study highlights the importance of screening for these comorbidities in CCCA patients and further research to understand the underlying mechanisms of the disease.
