- Abstract
The article "Wolfram Studies XXIV: The Art of Brevitas. Small Literary Forms of the German Middle Ages" deals with a collection of studies on small and smallest forms in the literature of the German Middle Ages. The contributions were presented at a colloquium in Rostock and discuss various perspectives on the topic. The volume is divided into four parts and includes studies on the poetics of brevitas, case studies specific to text types, transmission and reception, as well as medial transformation in the late Middle Ages. The authors examine various literary forms such as rhymed couplets, anecdotes, legends, sermons, and riddles. The volume offers a variety of perspectives, but does not exclusively focus on brevitas as literary compression.
