- Abstract
However, Laura Fernández González's revisiting of this subject opens new avenues for understanding the role played by this monarch in the development of a novel architectural and urban aesthetic. Philip II of Spain's interest in architecture and urban planning is not exactly a new topic. Fernández González's book is divided into four chapters, organized chronologically to cover the main period of Philip II's life, that is the second half of the sixteenth century.
