- Abstract
The discovery of atypical coins on the island Păcuiul lui Soare have questioned the collective of researchers led by Petre Diaconu. The legend and heraldic of the coins indicate a Byzantine influence, while numismatists attributed then to the Bulgarian Tsars. Starting from these coins and one of the titles held by Mircea the Elder that of dominus Dristri, has been identified a state formation unknown in the area Silistra -- Păcuiul lui Soare, led by a certain John Terter. A state with a Byzantine character, not Bulgarian, where they spoke Greek and have the same inspiration heraldic sign.
