- Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the determinants of the capital structure of small businesses in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. The methodology is descriptive by application of a survey cross-sectional with non-probability sample. The project received a total of 183 completed questionnaires out of the 350 which were distributed. Data was tabulated and submitted to descriptive analysis techniques univariate and multivariate with the SPSS software (Statistical Package for Social Science). As a result, it was identified that the analyzed companies have low debt ratios in the short and long term with restrictions on the use of debt (opting for use of equity trading suppliers) but not exempting the use of funding from government and private banks. It was also verified a tendency to use the Pecking Order theory. Correlation evidence was only found in the variable "type of collateral the company" with the debt target.
