Abstract
This article presents a musical critique of Terry Riley's composition "In C," Steve Reich's composition "Come Out" and Alvin Lucier's composition "I am Sitting in a Room." Topics discussed include the depiction of silence in these compositions, the harmonies in Riley's music, and the use of a recorded fragment of an interview in his music by Reich. Also mentioned is music composer John Cage.
