- Title
EVIDENCE AMENDMENT (JOURNALISTS' PRIVILEGE) ACT 2007.
- Abstract
The article discusses Australia's Evidence Amendment (Journalists' Privilege) Act of 2007, which changes the Evidence Act 1995. The law protects journalists and their sources by keeping confidential communications private. Attorney General Phillip Ruddock states that the law will help journalists reconcile the need for secrecy with their obligation to provide evidence in trials. Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert McClelland believes there should be an absolute privilege.
