- Abstract
The article examines the effectiveness of access to geriatric care of appropriate patients in England. Particular focus is given to the method use in calculating hospital bed days. Included is a chart showing the time spent by patients aged 65 and over with a diagnosis of R54 senility on general medicine wards. It notes that it acute hospital patients are usually admitted under general medicine for one or two days and then transferred to an appropriate specialty ward.
