- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the adaptation of jury system in Hungary. On April 19, 1848, Justice minister Ferenc Deák issued a decree regulating the jury procedure on the basis of the draft of the code of criminal procedure of 1843. Several acts that led to the reorganization of the jury system in the country such as the Chapter XIX of the Code of Criminal Procedure are tackled. It is noted that the people of Hungary believed that the jury system would balance the text-based authority of judges.
