- Abstract
The article cites a research that discovered an antimicrobial agent with the aid of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans from an infection of the pathogen Enterococcus faecalis. Screening of several purified compounds identified 16 synthetic compounds and 9 natural extracts which enhance host immunity or weaken pathogen virulence. The research was considered remarkable because it unites high-output screening with an in vivo infection model to determine molecules which are real anti-infectives.
