- Authors

- Abstract
This article explores the postcolonial theory as well as the border theory in Don Juan Manuel's tale collection entitled "El Conde Lucanor," a frametale genre which describes then conflict between the religious and political agendas of the Reconquest. The frametale narrative provides an understanding of the reality of daily life and human behavior characteristic of Reconquest-era Castile-Leon. It states that the frametale reveals how the conflictual and colonial engagement between a Christian polity and its Christian and non-Christian subjects gives rise to new ways of telling stories and giving voice to one's experience.
