- Abstract
Objectives: Large solitary fibrous tumor of pleura and mediastinum is rare but has definitive treatment. This rarity is presented here. Study design: Case report. Material and methods: Initially chest X-ray and CT scan Thorax was done which seems to be large lung mass. CT guided FNAC was inconclusive. USG guided biopsy followed by thoracotomy and resection of tumor was done. Immunohistochemistry was also performed. Results: CT scan thorax showed large non-honiogenous mass and CT guided FNAC was inconclusive. Histopathology of the mass (LSG guided biopsy and resected mass after thoracotomy) showed localized fibrous tumor. Immunohistochemistry showed- CD34 positive, negative for Cytokeratin, EMA, SI00 protein. Conclusion: Though rare solitary fibrous tumor of pleura and mediastinum should be kept in mind as it is surgically curative.
