- Abstract
The article explores the historiography of Australian labor history and the strikes of the period between 1890 to 1894. The author reflects on the influence of the publication of "The British Empire in Australia," by historian Brian Fitzpatrick. Emphasis is given to topics such as the emphasis on socialism by historian Robin Gollan, the political development of New South Wales as studied by historian Bede Nairn, and the economic focus of historian Manning Clark.
