- Abstract
This article discusses the case of an 87-year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of weakness, fatigue, and weight loss. The patient had a history of visceral leishmaniasis, a parasitic infection, which had previously been treated with medication. However, she experienced relapses of the infection and was eventually diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. The article suggests that the prolonged exposure to leishmanial antigens may have contributed to the development of the lymphoma. The case highlights the importance of considering multiple diagnoses in patients with chronic diseases and the need for further research on the potential association between leishmaniasis and lymphoma.
