HOW MUCH IS FAIR?: WILL SENATE BILL 18 ENSURE CONDEMNORS PAY JUST COMPENSATION FOR LAND TAKEN DUE TO THE CREZ TRANSMISSION LINES?
- Authors
Parke, Nicolas
- Abstract
The article discusses Texas Senate Bill 18 which deals with compensation for losses sustained by landowners following the taking of their land as part of the Competitive Renewable Energy Zones (CREZ) transmission project as of June 2012. Texas' eminent domain and takings laws are also addressed. The author argues that the utilization of wind power as an alternative energy source in the U.S. requires the financial support of an upgrade to the country's infrastructure grid.
