- Abstract
The article features the literary works of John Andrew Rice, founder of Black Mountain College in North Carolina. It recognizes Rice for his artistic endeavor, creative writing and embrace of both experiment and experience. The elements of Rice's short stories are identified, including plot twists, unlikely behaviors and unusual endings. The ability of the author to humanize fantasy is discussed.
