- Abstract
The article presents research regarding the use of literature by children in solving mathematics. The U.S. teachers are required to meet state standards in mathematics and the English Language Arts, which encourage them to make interdisciplinary connections with their students. The children's literature provides significant mathematical learning context which helps them to value mathematics and to become a mathematical problem solver. A research shows that a student will understand the mathematical concepts when children's literacy and numeracy are being connected in an interactive and meaningful way. Furthermore, it is shown that math score increases as math strategies where combined with literature.
