- Abstract
The article discusses the possibility that characters in the play "1 Henry IV" by English playwright William Shakespeare are based on real historical figures. Topics discussed include the character of Falstaff, the historical keeper of Gloucester castle in Gloucester, England Nicholas Pointz, and the possibility that Shakespeare contemporary George Bardolf or a member of his family was the inspiration for the character of Bardolph.
