- Abstract
As the inevitable product of educational informatization development in the new era, the practice of blended teaching in local colleges and universities is one of the important factors affecting domestic higher education reform. In order to track the current status and developing trend of blended teaching in local colleges and universities, a relevant research on three science majors of two local colleges and universities in Liaoning province was carried out via questionnaire. The results showed that 93.3% of the students recognized the advantages of traditional classroom, such as timely interaction and good teaching effect. 79.9% of the students showed positive attitudes towards the blended teaching although 66.7% of the total surveyed students did not know much about the blended teaching. 77.8% of the students agreed that the blended teaching should be set according to different disciplines, and preferred to choose elective courses and compulsory courses of humanities that are “not very important” for science students to experience blended teaching. 68.9% of the students still thought that the classroom session of blended teaching should be mainly processed by teachers. For online learning, only 26.7% of the respondents could watch videos and clarify problems carefully and timely. 95.5% of the students said that online homework was “completed independently” and “completed with classmates”. Moreover, the students believed that the formative assessment has a positive impact on teaching effect, and acquiring scores only through one exam should be avoided in blended teaching. It can be seen that contemporary students are positive and independent in learning. However, as the main participants of blended teaching, they do not really understand the connotation of blended teaching, suspect the effects of blended teaching and overly depend on traditional teaching methods. All these problems eventually lead to the failure of blended teaching to achieve the expected effect.
