An essay is presented about the novel "Manette Salomon," by Edmond and Jules de Goncourt. It discusses the theme of the essay which focuses on the literary anti-Semitism, aesthetics, and epistemology. It indicates that Jewishness inflects the novel's every aspect through figuring philosophical anxiety and metaphysical postures. It also offers background of the two central characters of the novel, including Anatole Bazoche and Naz de Coriolis.
