This article focuses on the life and works of French novelist André Gide. The year 1947 has marked a certain closure to Gide's literary career and culmination of his international canonization. In the preceding year, he finally published his last récit, the conclusion of his mythic cycle, Thésée" and drama "Le Retour." He had been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature on November 13, 1947.
