- Abstract
The article titled "Afterword: Paranoia, or, Assassins on the Run" by Ned Rossiter explores the paranoid vision of the world depicted in Chris Marker's video "Stopover in Dubai." The video reconstructs the Mossad assassination of Hamas founder Mahmoud al-Mabhouh using closed-circuit television footage. The author compares Marker's work to films by Adam Curtis, which also depict secret government and corporate agendas. The article examines the relationship between technology, perception, subjectivity, desire, capitalism, and exploitation in the context of paranoia. It argues that paranoia can be a resource for resistance and a form of counterhegemony, and raises questions about the role of media, data analytics, and traditional critique in addressing societal dynamics.
