- Title
A Review of the Year in Family Law: Working Toward More Uniformity in Laws Relating to Families.
- Authors
ELROD, LINDA D.; SPECTOR, ROBERT G.
- Abstract
The article discusses several developments related to family law in 2010. On May 17, 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court gave a decision in its first case on the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. In the summer of 2010, two U.S. federal courts found the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional. One court found that DOMA violated constitutional principles of equal protection; and the other found that DOMA exceeded the power of Congress.
