- Abstract
In order to study the characteristics of the preliminary research on rail transit backbone lines in the new urban district, this paper takes Xi'an metro line 16 as an example to summarize the characteristics of such lines in terms of line function, operation scheme, technical standards, local routing, development combination and station scale. Xi'an metro line 16 is the first large capacity backbone line running through the central axis of Xi'an-Xianyang new district. The main characteristics of the preliminary study are as follows. The line guides the realization of planning, which is controlled by planning conditions and not by engineering conditions. The difference of passenger flow intensity in different design years leads to the complexity of the research process of operation organization scheme. Due to the exceptional short length of the first phase construction, extensive system research has to be conducted with difficulties in determining technical standards and high requirements for reserved interfaces. The local route scheme is complex in view of important dispersed passenger flow points. As the line concerns the urban functions, high design standard and new technology are adopted. Advanced design concept is employed to improve the anti-risk ability of stations with high planning intensity. In addition, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the connection between urban design and rail transit planning, on the relationship between important passenger distribution points and urban axis, and on the civil engineering design and equipment system reservation.
