- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the mercury accumulation of the water-weed Azolla and its effect on the weed's growth. The study measures the mercury uptake and the growth of Azolla pinnata following inoculation with waste soil, which is mercury-contaminated. Result shows that the accumulation of mercury increases as the concentration of solid waste and time of inoculation increases. Moreover, the growth and weight of Azolla decrease following the inoculation.
