- Abstract
A case study is presented a six-year-old male patient with chronic mastoiditis with no intracranial complications, and states that his intraoperative findings revealed a chronic granulomatous infection. It is also noted that cortical mastoidectomy was performed and the tissue sent for bacterial, fungal and tuberculosis culture, histology and pathology, and the child was diagnosed with Nocardia asteroides, which was then treated with high doses of trimethoprim and sulphamethoxazole.
