- Abstract
Functional organic molecules like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are gaining more and more attention in the field of organic electronics. Because of their adaptable photo-physical properties and often robust intermolecular connections, they are well-suited for use in applications that require precise regulation of charge mobility. Strong π-π interactions cause hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene (HBC), discshaped PAH, to self-associate into columnar stacks. HBC molecules can be decorated on the periphery to achieve a wide variety of features and functionalities, including as solution processability, liquid crystallinity, and semiconductivity. Sensors, batteries, transistors, and solar cells are just some of the many places you can find HBC derivatives being used as functional materials. In this article, the synthesis, properties, functions and the optoelectronic applications including sensors, batteries, transistors, and solar cells of HBC derivatives are presented.
