- Abstract
The article talks about the 50th year of continuous publication of the "Personnel and Guidance Journal." The journal began in 1921 as the "National Vocational Guidance Association Bulletin," changed its name to the "Vocational Guidance Magazine" in 1924, and to "Occupations" in 1933. It became the "P&G Journal" in 1952, the year American Personnel & Guidance Association (APGA) was formed. By happy coincidence, APGA also celebrates a zero birthday this year-only 20, but a milestone nonetheless. And APGA, be assured, needs ideas-for its structure, its functioning, its relationships, and its publications and other activities. All through the year, in this journal, at the convention, and in all the local and national activities which together make our associations what they are, let us seek, speak, and hear ideas-hopefully some new ones. The journal will pause for a long look at the past in its February commemorative issue, but even there it will seek insights from the past for guidance to the future. Older does not necessarily mean better, but neither does it necessarily mean worse.
