This article presents information on research undertaken in the field of labor organizations in the U.S. and Canada. In Laval, Quebec, researcher Jean Boivin is appraising the major historical factors that explain the permanent diversity and rivalry among the Province of Quebec labor organizations. A survey of the literature on Quebec and Canadian labor organizations constitutes the principal source of data. In Warwick, New England, researcher Joe England is examining patterns of decision making by union executives, focusing on the roles and powers exercised by trade union national executive board members.
