- Abstract
This article deals with wage structure in an expanding labor market concerning the electronics industry in San Jose, California. The trends in employment in Santa Clara County is analyzed by industry. Almost all the employment is included in the electrical machinery industry. Median earnings of electrical and electronic technicians were below the California median. Unemployment data indicates concentration of unemployment among the low-skilled workers in every industry. The article concludes that the growth in the demand for labor in the industry was accompanied by rates of increase in average hourly earnings.
