- Abstract
The article presents information about an integrated management of routes for logistics carrier DISAYT. A solution to the company's delivery problem consists of a set of routes covered by each available truck per day, along with the list of customers to visit and their addresses. Traditionally, the drivers themselves suggested solutions based on their experience in the delivery process. Preliminary solutions were improved by trial and error day after day by recording the details of specific routes in an access file and then comparing the outcomes of similar itineraries at the end of the month. Standard software was not designed to handle all of the constraints formulated by DISAYT, including specific situations that were very common in DISAYT. The distribution problem differs markedly among the provinces because of differences in the number of customers, geography, time windows, commitments with clients, and so forth. Therefore, it made sense to study provinces individually rather than to study the entire area all at once.
