- Abstract
In this article the authors discuss various studies conducted on how carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rate from trees reflect their physiological processes, such as growth rate, stand age, and elevation. According to the authors, CO2 is highly soluble, and dissolves in stem water, depending on factors such as temperature and pH. The authors say that CO2 emitted to the atmosphere from the bark surface can provide information on the plant's local growth and respiration.
