- Abstract
The article presents the author's view about the conflict in the Japanese American community wherein half of the Japanese women become a Nisei Week Queen. It examines the lack of visible traits among the Japanese women being crowned queen with the speculations that American standards of beauty were pushing out the Asian beauties. It also cites the importance of image of self-discipline to the Japanese American community.
