- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the cause of severe respiratory illness among Hajj pilgrims in Austria. Particular focus is given to the Hajj pilgrimage, as well as the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection. Topics discussed include laboratory testing for viral infection, phylogenetic analysis, and the incidence of influenza-like diseases.
