- Abstract
The article discusses the California Supreme Court's ruling in the 1998 case Birbrower, Montalbano, Condon & Frank, PC v. Superior Court which deals with the subject of what non-California attorneys may or may not do in California without engaging in the unauthorized practice of law, and it mentions how foreign lawyers are entitled to appear in international commercial arbitrations held in California. Legal exceptions and the California Business & Professions Code are examined.
