- Abstract
The article discusses the role of microRNA (miRNA)-based biomarkers in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Topics discussed include the significant variation in the miRNA-34a-mediated triggering receptor expressed in myeloid/microglial cells-2 (TREM-2) down-regulation in an African-American population and the three main genes involved in early-onset AD (EOAD), including presenilin 1 and presenilin 2. Also mentioned is the involvement of Aβ42 peptides production in the AD process.
