- Abstract
In its diachronic evolution, the language used in the social work field, transferred from its archaic forms and spiritual orthodox influence, into a language either exclusive and anglicized, or adapted according to medical or judicial models. Despite the central position of language in many social work activities, its meanings had been quite rarely explored at international level, much less within the Romanian space. In such a context, the existence in the field of a Babel Tower type of phenomenon, with effects in the evolution of the social work profession is both interesting and concerning. In this article we present an inventory of the ten categories of semantic inconsequentialities from the social work language as a result of specialist interviewing, of literature reference analysis, legislation, public presentations, translation, and beneficiaries' perception.
