- Abstract
The research was conducted in the protected area: Turquino National Park, in the presence of sites with Juglans jamaicensis C. DC., the Conservation Zone Units of Santo Domingo and La Platica, located between 500 and 1300 m.s.n.m. In this paper the structure of the vegetation of a montane rain forest with Juglans jamaicensis, taxon critically endangered was characterized. Floristic composition and structure of vegetation through ecological parameters Abundance, frequency and relative dominance and the index value of ecological importance were evaluated. A cluster analysis was performed to detect the arrangement of plots in terms of species abundance. 33 families, 55 genera and 64 species of trees and 10 species of vines, 8 families and 9 genera were reported. Richest families were Lauraceae, Melastomataceae, Meliaceae, Piperaceae, Rubiaceae and Rutaceae. The species most IVIE: Dendropanax arboreus, Juglans jamaicensis Prunus occidentalis and Erythrina poeppigiana, are closely related to the dominance of its members, as well as its abundance in the case of Prunus occidentalis. Three clusters were detected related to the higher altitudes and in the presence of anthropogenic elements such as presence of Coffea arabica and Hibiscus elatus plantations.
