- Abstract
The intervention of mistreatment and sexual abuse of children and adolescents -NNA- has been focused mainly on the victims and perpetrators. Few studies address the role of the psychosocial professional in the attention to this problem. The objective of this research was to learn about the experiences of professionals in the social area in the city of Medellin in the psychosocial care of mistreatment and sexual abuse of children and adolescents. The methodology implemented was qualitative, and the data collection strategy used was an in-depth interview with professionals with extensive experience in interventions in this area. The results showed precarious working conditions, low salaries, high workload, lack of support, and constant job rotation, both in public and private entities. It was also found that working with these problems affects the mental health of professionals, generating emotional alterations that lead to burnout syndrome, with an impact on the quality of interventions. The conclusion is the need for institutions to guarantee not only decent working conditions, but also "support to support" actions, as this increases the staff's ability to cope with care and find meaning in their work.
