- Abstract
Currently the teaching of English language has found support in ICT, this qualitative study is about multimedia resources and memorization strategies that favor vocabulary acquisition in English language. Third-year high school students of the Agriculture-Ecological Amazonian Educational Institute, in the Municipality of El Paujil, Caquetá-Colombia, participated in this study. The descriptive methodology allowed determining aspects regarding the use of multimedia resources for teaching vocabulary and mnemonic strategies for memorization. During this research were used tools such as observation, interviews, and homework reviewing and vocabulary test for data collection. It was found that the multimedia tool made with PowerPoint make easier the learning of vocabulary, because of the processing of two separate channels (visual and verbal); allowing to retain the presented information through the storage in sensory, working and long-term memory. Mnemonic strategies help for word memorizing and those based on language allow the student to retain them for longer.
