- Abstract
The article presents a study which was conducted to determine the effect of the phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor sildenafil as compared with clinical status and placebo on exercise capacity in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF). The study was carried out to check if phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor enhances cardiovascular function. The study employed double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial in which 216 outpatients were enrolled. The result revealed that administration of sildenfil drug for 24 weeks did not result in improvement in exercise capacity or clinical status.
