- Abstract
On the one hand, the characterising abnormal-WDF scattergram should lead to suspect high levels of methaemoglobin in an ICU patient with abnormal arterial blood gas, and on the other hand it should lead to investigate an unstable Hb variant in the context of haemolytic anaemia. Methaemoglobin is unable to fix and transport oxygen and reduces oxygen release by increasing the affinity of the haemoglobin molecules for O SB 2 sb .
