- Abstract
The article focuses on a study which compared the reduction extents of ferric oxide in clay minerals by Shewanella putrefaciens and Desulfovibrio vulgaris. X-ray diffraction was used to confirm the intercalation of glycine into nontronite. Results of the study showed that there was a decrease in total iron content due to the intercalation. It also found enhanced reduction extents in Desulfovibrio vulgaris following the addition of anthra-quinone-2,6-disulfonate and/or sulfate with nontronite.
