- Abstract
An experiment was conducted on pomegranate variety Ganesh and transplanted in the experimental field in 2003 to compare the effect of drip and surface irrigation with saline water on plant growth and its productivity under Saline Water Project (ICAR), R.B.S. College, Bichpuri, Agra. The observation recorded in 2006 to 2008 was recorded that the height of plant and diameter of stem were significantly higher in drip irrigation more over surface irrigation with saline water whereas inigation interval of E.T. 1.0 was significant moreover E.T. 0 .5 in both plant height and diameter of stem in pomegranate. However, the increasing salinity level of irrigation water decreased the plant height and its diameter significantly than good quality irrigation water. The diameter and number of fruits/plant as well as yield and productivity/ha were significantly higher in drip irrigation over surface irrigation. Yield/ha as well as per plant was significantly decreased with 12 ds/m saline water over good quality water and the irrigation with E.T. 0.5 was recorded significantly less yield as compared to E.T. 1.0.
