- Abstract
An essay is provided which discusses the relationship between American novelist James Fenimore Cooper's perspective on private property rights and security and the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA). An overview of the concept of the frontier under the political theory of liberalism is provided. The English philosopher John Locke's view on the state of nature is discussed. The U.S. government's mass surveillance is also discussed.
