- Abstract
The article focuses on a study related to the therapeutic pacing in tachyarrhythmias by implanted pacemakers. The termination of drug-resistant tachyarrhythmias by external stimulation methods has been clinically and experimentally proven, but there are only a few reports of antitachycardic long-term therapy with implantable pacemakers. Competitive stimulation for interruption of the tachycardia by single impulses is used mainly for termination of supraventricular and ventricular re-entry tachycardias. Tachycardias can be terminated, and provoked, by electrical stimulation; this is true for supraventricular as well as for ventricular tachycardias.
