- Abstract
This article discusses a study which examined how cononsolvency affect the phase transition and preferential adsorption phenomenon behaviors of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM)/methanol/water ternary solutions. It compared the apparent affinity between the PNIPAM and cononsolvent system at a particular composition of cononsolvent mixture and two pure solvent components. The phase transition and the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behaviors of PNIPAM molecule are explained.
