- Abstract
The article examines the violation of the U.S. Constitution and the moral autonomy in court-ordered apologies. Topics discussed include the necessity for strict judicial scrutiny in abridging the First Amendment rights of conscience and silence implicated by such apologies, prohibition of the court orders under the Cruel and Unusual Punishments Clause of the Eighth Amendment, and the reason why legal persons such as cities and businesses are subject to court-ordered apologies.
