- Abstract
The article discusses the implications of the Begay v. United States jurisprudence to the identification of violent felons based on the Armed Career Criminal Act of 1984 and the U.S. sentencing guidelines. It says that violent felony is defined as a crime involving physical force and punishable by imprisonment of over one year. It explores various Missouri felony cases which were ruled by the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals including one on burglary, one on arrest evasion, and one on child abuse.
